Once again, our ward did a wonderful job of providing plenty of opportunities to keep our kids entertained. And my wonderful friends made sure that I had plenty of opportunities to go.
On the 17th, Natalie picked us up for a tour of the Anderson Dairy. We went last year, but I knew she'd enjoy it more this time around...mostly because of the ice cream. We had a great time touring the facilities, even though Teagan thought the dry ice they used in the deep freeze was a little stinky. We thoroughly enjoyed the generous sample of cookies 'n' cream and Teagan loved the animatronic animals narrating some of the tour. Thanks for getting us there, Natalie!
Today, Katie picked us up for a tour of the fire station next door to our church building. We have a firefighter in the ward, and while he doesn't work at this particular station, his wife arranged for him to lead us on a tour of the station, including letting the kids sit in the fire truck, seeing him suit up in all the gear AND spraying water with a real firehose. Did I mention the firefighter helmet? Sweet deal indeed. It was a super hot day (shocker) and I was sweating bullets but the kids cooled off in the (sometimes direct) spray of the firehose. Bless the firefighter's heart, he made sure the kids kept a good arc on it. Thanks for taking us, Katie. And thanks to Holly for putting it together!
