My littlest sister Nicola channeled her inner brat and played Veruca Salt in our high school's production of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. She's usually so sweet that I just had to go and see her be a spoiled princess...twice. It was a fantastic show - a far cry from the culmination of my high school career, playing Snoopy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. We were impressed and proud.
Not only was Nicola amazing on stage, Teagan was captivated by it all. I lost sleep over how she'd behave and packed a trunk 'o' food for her to stuff her face with in the hope that she'd keep quiet. Didn't need any of it - Uncle Pablo & Auntie Kristina came prepared AND she couldn't take her eyes off the stage. We went two nights in a row, first with Mum, Kristina, Pablo, Daniel, Grandma and Patrice and second with friends Rita & Jenna. The second night, we arrived early in order to get good seats. And when I say "good", we ended up on the front row! Didn't see it coming, but it was perfect. The best part was that Teagan sat on Jenna's lap for the entire first half...having never seen her before.
The play was really well done, from costumes to props to music to acting.
Nicola was kind enough to get us some photo ops with the stars of the show, but she wasn't as impressed with Willy Wonka as we were. Iain was really 'sweet' and came out before the show as Willy Wonka, saying hi to kids and giving them candy. Teagan called it her "special candy" and happily watched him on stage, but when it came to taking a picture with him, he tried to hold her and she was less than thrilled. So she was wary of Grandpa Joe when they stood with him. She talked about Oompa Loompas non-stop for days, so she was ok with them.
When we arrived early for the second show, Mum held a place in line and Teagan and I wandered the halls of my old high school. There's something about watching your daughter
walk (and run) the halls of your high school in a wee Dora backpack
that makes you a little weepy. It reminded me just how fast time can fly with little ones. One blink and she'll be there. I'll have to remind myself that the moments are fleeting when we attempt potty training soon.

1 pennies for your thoughts:
A world where Oompa Loompas where pink? I can get on board with that.
