My brother-in-law my balk at my blatant abuse of the Spanish language, but he can thank me for not including it in my speech. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my sister got married! Say what you will about a certain royal wedding in April being the most anticipated wedding of the century, but as far as many of us were concerned, Pablo & Kristina Vega tying the proverbial knot over Labour Day weekend in Toronto took the (wedding) cake. It was a beautiful day that deserves its very own post, separate from the rest of my Canadian shenanigans.
Here's the beautiful bride with the man the James Bond franchise missed out on, our father. You may complain about his head being cut off in the photo, but a) it makes him look taller and b) it's all about the dress.
Instead of the traditional "walk down the aisle" he walked her to the doors of the Toronto LDS Temple as far as he could go (not being a member of our church) and into the arms of her waiting fiance. It was really sweet.
And here they are, Mr. & Mrs. Pablo Vega, absolutely glowing. What's the only thing that could clash with a pretty, white flower girl dress? Laryngitis - that's what. Looking back, I don't think Kristina's niece would tell you it was the best day of her life. Heaven bless my dad who walked her up, down and around the car park - in a suit, in suffocating humidity - during the ceremony when the babysitters got held up in traffic. Love him.
We've been told there's a slight family resemblance.
I miss my sistahs! And my brother, especially today. Sad he missed the occasion, but oh-so-proud of him for serving a mission.
Not sure if this pictures reminds you of anyone...very attractive woman smiling nicely taking a self-portrait alongside her equally attractive husband who refuses to conform and smile nicely. I've just seen my future!
Haven't gotten the "real deal" photos back yet, but my Mum managed to snap this one of the bride and her maids. Please note that all of my face time with the sun this summer in an effort to avoid receiving the Pastiest Bridesmaid Award didn't get me very far.
What was Brandon doing while I was having my photo taken you ask? Catching up with Uncle Gary & Cousin James and reminiscing about jolly ol' England. And taking care of Miss Coughy von Wheezing.
Love my grandparents. Aren't they so cute?
While the bride and groom were taking some family pictures, we took some of our own. I sure hope theirs turn out better! My heart was breaking for her.
But even with her ailment, she managed to bust out The Face. What a hoot.
As you can see, she got better as the day progressed.
Someone get me a frame.
Even The Richardses get serious every now and again. Love!
And I'm pretty sure I tear up every time I look at this one.
But back to being us...did you expect anything less? Truth be told, the secret to getting Teagan to smile in the previous photo was having Brandon jump just before we took it. If you look closely in this one, you'll see a little smile peaking out from behind that binky. Must be in the genes.
Speaking of good genes, my little sister got in on the action and several people have had to look twice to see who's who. At almost 28, I'm beginning to find it flattering that people confuse me with my 16 year old sister.Love Mini-Me.
Love him.
Love my Mum. Isn't she gorgeous?
And because it's supposed to be a post about her wedding, I had to end with a photo of my beautiful sister, Kristina Vega, who needed help buckling shoes on occasion. One of my favourite photos of the day. CONGRATULATIONS! Love you & Pablo.
