50 First Dates...well, almost

When Brandon and I went to our married student ward for the first time we were overwhelmed first by the number of couples our age already with child, and second by the number of guys I had been on dates with in my "wild oat" days. Now don't get me wrong, I was by no means a huge dater...I was a huge FIRST dater, meaning our first date also happened to be our last. I thought that moving away from Provo would help avoid the inevitably awkward situation of running into these fellows. Funny story...
We went to Brandon's Grad Student BBQ at UNLV a few weeks ago. I saw a girl I recognized as being my TA at BYU and started chatting with her. What are the odds? I thought. Then her husband came over. Yep, definitely went on a bad first date with him and was forced to get really creative trying to avoid him at work everyday. REALLY?! Thought we'd moved on. As soon as we got home I dug out the old picture of the infamous evening and Brandon cracked up. I'm glad he thinks it's funny; he could react quite differently.
That got me thinking, just how many first & last dates have I gone on in my lifetime? The answer is 44, give or take a group date or "hang out" here and there. 44 dates that ended with him, me or both of us thinking (and sometimes saying) "Well, that was fun. Let's leave it at that". Awesome. What was it about me? ...

Was it that we matched too well?Because Brandon doesn't seem to mind. (This was accidental, by the way.)Was I too tall? Was I too short?Because it seems to me that the Richardses, along with several celebrity couples have proven that height doesn't matter all that much. If you're trying to figure it out, there's exactly a foot between us, but I'm stretching and eating my vegetables in an effort to bridge the gap a little.F.Y.I. If there's 12 inches between you and your significant other, it should go without saying that their clothing will not fit you. Brandon couldn't take my word for it, he had to find out the hard way.
But I digress...
Was it that I fell asleep on our date? (Or pretended to in some cases to quell the barrage of questions I'd already answered previously that evening) Hey, no one's perfect. It has to be said that I had fun whilst my Grade A loins were on the market, but now that they're taken and downgraded to Grade C for not being nearly so lean, I have zero regrets. I'm glad things went the way they did and Buddy resisted the urge to say "It's not you, it's me", or "Let's just be friends". You're a good man!

HA! 44 First Dates, I love it. Nothing was wrong with you darling, it was just that no one was good enough until Brandon came along. I truly enjoyed watching you go on some pretty funny "first dates" though. You're a cutie! Hope all is well with you in your new place!

Should I recognize the other 2 people in the background of the picture at my house?

Did any of them ever try to write his name on your leg while watching the world's worst movie, Zoolander? Or did you give him a high five when he tried to hold your hand? How about emphasizing how big your older brothers were when he tried to walk you to the door, so much so, that he just stayed in the car. It's amazing I ever had a second date.

I loved this post, especially the censored photos (and the censored nametag! Don't think I didn't look!)

Don't worry, you weren't one of those girls I disliked for going on a date with Clint - especially since you helped clean our apartment when we moved. :)

That's so funny! How did you ever count them all? I have no idea how many first dates I've gone on but much of them ended with trying to avoid them! Thanks for the funny post :)
