Ain't no MOUNTain high enough.

Our downstairs has come a LONG way in the last little while. Teaching a Relief Society class on journaling and blogging is the best thing that ever happened to our living room. (Worst thing that ever happened to my blog *cough* HYPOCRISY *cough* but good for the main floor of my house.) We decided to tackle all the projects we've been talking and dreaming about doing in a long weekend.
A friend (who will remain nameless to protect him from getting suckered into helping anyone else do it too) came over on a Saturday morning and tackled mounting our TV. Awesome, right? I should mention that he also played a large role in putting together the TV stand...that our TV no longer stands on. A mounted TV is a thing of beauty, if I do say so myself. I can't stop looking at it - whether or not there's something on. A friend suggested a while back that I host a movie night. Then looked at our TV and laughed. NOW I'm ready. Brandon can hang on the mount and it won't move, so we're confident in its security. And my favourite part is that there are no cords. There's a whole lotta electrical magic going on behind the scenes and we couldn't be happier. Thanks, friend! You know who you are. It is a shame that the awesomeness is often wasted on Dora or Team Umizoomi (pictured) but it makes them more tolerable.
New blinds? Sure! We inherited some ugly room darkening shades that didn't give us any privacy and decided we'd had it. So Brandon replaced 6 sets of blinds in a single weekend. He's awesome like that.
An incredibly talented and creative friend in my old ward makes amazing prints (among other things) and I couldn't resist her "I love you because". What better time to create an I Love You wall than immediately before a dozen of my Relief Society sisters come over to my pad to hear about creative ways to keep a family history. And what, pray tell, did Brandon choose as his inaugural message?
I Love You because...you make me enchiladas. Nice. (Though I have discovered an amazing recipe for Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas and I can't go back to regular ones.)
Granted, my I Love You because...you sleep in was a little shallow as well. And as of the past week also categorically UNTRUE.
If I'd known that all I had to do for a makeover of my entire downstairs was teach a class, I would have scheduled one a long time ago. If I host another one in the loft, do you suppose I could get some more shelves and photos hung? Heaven bless Brandon for sacrificing his entire long weekend and He Who Must Not Be Named for giving up a precious Saturday morning to make our home improvements possible.
