Well, I went back the following week and we determined that Baby Richards has a perfect heartbeat. After recent experiences of friends, this blessing is much more appreciated than it might have been otherwise. Brandon was able to go back with me and hear the heartbeat, which was wonderful. I loved having him there. We're both thrilled! As are the proud grandparents on either side. Dad insists there must be a mistake (and jokes about punching Brandon!) because he is too young and handsome to be a granddad :) Mum begs to differ and is really excited. Chuck and Brenda are thrilled at the news, despite ours being grandchild #13. They're just dying to be able to tell people, because the family prays for us night and day (and when they bless the food) and their children's faith hangs in the balance if they don't find out soon!
It's still very surreal, and getting harder to keep a secret. I'm nauseous all the time, and that's tricky to hide at work. We're planning to break the news to the families Easter weekend with a card with a copy of the ultrasound and:
"We're excited to see you at Christmas!" for the Haws.
"Thanks for praying for us!" for the Richards
Should be fun!
