Enthusiastic about Easter

Technically, this is Teagan's third Easter, but this was the first that we really went out of our way to make it special for her. And it paid off bigtime.
My sweet friend, Katie invited T & I to Ethel M's Chocolate Factory and Cactus Gardens a few days before Easter and Teagan was so excited, she could hardly stand it. If you don't sense my sarcasm, let me make it clear that the last sentence was dripping with it. She was fighting naps with everything she had (I say that in past tense like it still isn't happening, but the twitch in my eye will tell you that it's ongoing) and fell asleep on the 20 minute ride over there. Transferring her from carseat to stroller didn't wake her, nor did the smell of chocolate. (If she weren't my clone, I'd wonder if we were related.)
Once we decided to leave, she decided to wake up, and we wanted to give her a chance to run around and enjoy what we'd brought her there to see. And she did. From the bunnies to the "pokies" she had a ball. And Livi was a great sport and agreed to walk around another time. It helped that she had fun toys in her purse like a wrench - always prepared.
My only disappointment was that I wasn't allowed to climb any of the cacti. Major bummer.
It was really sweet of Katie to invite us and a delicious way to start celebrating Easter.
We continued on Easter morning with a small egg hunt and little Easter basket. She got a kick out of finding the eggs and the M & Ms inside, and we got a kick out of heearing her say "Oh my goodness!" every time she opened an egg and put it in her "bathhhhket." (It was all very Sylvester the Cat.)

Our ward held an Easter Egg Hunt for the Primary children at a nearby park and the weather was nice enough for us to walk there. Wisely, the youngest kids got to go first and find 10 eggs. Most kids ran off to the other end of the park, but my Teagan saw opportunities only steps away and collected all of her eggs within 30 seconds. She is mine. And commenced eating her candy before she could make it back to home base. Undeniable proof she's ours.

Of course we tried to drive the message home that Easter is about Jesus Christ, our Saviour, and His resurrection and overcoming death for us. But oddly enough, M&M's seemed to hold our two year old's attention better. I suppose we have to be consistent and continue to try. All in all, I'd say it was an egg-cellent Easter. (You didn't really expect me not to leave you with a bad pun, did you?)
