We had the brilliant idea to make a post-dinner smoothie. Correction. It would have been a brilliant idea if we had a blender that didn't choke on yogurt.
We were rifling through our smoothie recipe book (one of those mysterious things that you think you've always had because you can't remember when or where you got it) and stumbled across the Coconut Dream. We don't usually have all of the necessary ingredients for fancy schmancy smoothies, but the stars aligned and we managed to scrape together all things required for a Coconut Dream.
It called for a significant amount of ice, and our blender fought the good fight, but really struggled tackling the chopped strawberries and crush the "crushed ice" we got from the freezer. I was stopping the blender every few seconds to jam a spoon in it and reposition the ingredients. Frustrated and thirsty, Brandon took over and braved taking the lid off while the blender was whirring to push the stuff around with a spoon. It went well the first few times. And then...

Well, you probably saw that one coming. Strawberries, milk and coconut everywhere - I found some on the cupboards the next day. The mess was everywhere, but took to Brandon's shirt with a vengeance. Brandon's irreplaceable BYU Intramural Champion shirt. The details around his team's big win are a little fuzzy 6 years later, but the shirt certainly isn't. There are some shirts I'd happily toss berry juice at and be happy never to see them again, but this shirt symbolized the culmination of his impressive (not to mention lengthy) intramural career at BYU. Of course it didn't happen to the Utah Jazz on the front, Wendy's on the back, holes in the armpit masterpiece, it had to be the sentimental badge of honour that can't be replaced.
As much as I the new Oxi Clean guy makes my skin crawl, he hocks a good product. A few sprays and some gel and it was as good as new. But that won't stop me from insisting that from now on he wear one of his scabby T-shirts any time we get a smoothie craving.
