We're off to a great start...
Exhibit A: Brandon with his stack of presents (shortly before exclaiming: "Are you just going to take pictures all night?") What you don't see here is my gift for him. Probably because they shipped the wrong thing. Not only was it the wrong item, it was about 100 sizes too small. So I have to ship it back to them on my own dime and hope they get it right a second time. But it's the thought that counts, right?
Exhibit B: Las Vegas' kryptonite. Snow. Turns out a city in the middle of a desert isn't so effective at handling the white stuff. My boss let everyone go "early" to avoid the weather, but since I work a different schedule, I left when I normally would. Except that the snow held Brandon up in traffic and I ended up being the last to leave. Awesome. Here's the view from our balcony. If you look real hard, you can see snow on the palm trees. Great. By the way, just heard that school is canceled tomorrow. Really? Pretty sure that if you can still see grass, it shouldn't be a Snow Day.
Exhibit C: Whist sending my family our flight information, we discover that it's been canceled (along with 90% of the flights out of Vegas tonight). Thanks for the heads up, United!
After waiting for 15 minutes and finally getting through to customer service, only to find we didn't have the right information, we decided to use both of our phones to call the hotline again, thinking our odds of getting someone would be better. Unfortunately, they answered my call first and I have next to no reception in our apartment. So, after confirming that our flight was canceled, in the middle of finding out our new flight info, my phone lost the call. So, 20 minutes of elevator music on speaker phone later, we found out we can leave tomorrow morning instead of late tonight. Cross your fingers!
Eating a ton of food with these folks (Dad, Grandma and Grandad are missing), pulling Christmas crackers and wearing our paper crowns for the remainder of the evening.
Buddy continuing to bond with my dad. My dad calls Brandon his bodyguard and is planning to use him to settle some old scores with some golf buddies.
The mandatory trip to Chuck E. Cheese's, where a kid can be a kid. And I will.
7 pennies for your thoughts:
I talked to your hubby on the phone yesterday ... He told me it was cold. I didn't believe him. Now I do. P.s. No, I don't make a habit of talking to your hubby no any other married man for that matter. However, I have a problem ... I always seem to call your hubby only at times I am trying to call my brother. I hope he doesn't hate me. One of these days I am going to call him and mean to call him. I just don't know what I would have to say to him. Hmmm. I hope you make it home! The end.
That is so exciting you're going home!! Holy cow, can't wait to hear about Buddy bonding with your dad.
Wow. Good luck getting home. Merry Christmas!
I remember being in Las Vegas once visiting family and it snowed! The world stopped. They were out of school and it was like Santa Claus was in town. We from Utah chuckled as there was no accumilation of snow, just some flakes in the air.
Merry Christmas!! I hope it is wonderful
Oh yeah, we'll be in Canada too. I'll yell when we get there and see if you hear me...it's not that big a country, right?
Good luck! I hope you made it out of the airport! You gotta give us credit, we don't see snow too much around here. My favorite part of the "snow day" is that by today there was no snow! It was nice and sunny!
Warning: You have 12 hours to update this blog or it is the KICK LIST for you, young lady!!!!
